ECOLOGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Ever since the publication of Rachel Carson’s seminal Silent Spring in 1962, I have taken a close interest in environmental issues, the impact of the modern economic system on the ecosphere and technologies compatible with sustainable economic activity.
|
Among the subjects I have tackled are industrial methanization and compost plants, wind turbines, and biological indicators in potable water production, to name just a few.

| In a project offering a broader view, the Auvergne nature conservation board had recourse to my services for the translation of its website, www.riviere-allier.com, a task demanding an understanding of such diverse sectors as hydrology, natural habitats and economic issues. |

CLOCK AND WATCHMAKING
My upbringing naturally led me to an interest in fine watchmaking, a trade at the interface of engineering and art, in which I have accumulated consderable experience, translating technical documentation and press releases for prestigious brands including Jacquet Droz, A. Lange und Söhne, IWC, Montblanc, Richard Mille and various others.
Thus I was one of two translators selected by the Datawords agency to share the translation of a massive history of clockmaking,
La Conquête du temps,
published in English under the title
The Mastery of Time,
Flammarion, 2011. |

| I gradually built up something of a reputation in the fine art field, so when the Paris publishers Albin Michel needed a translator for a prestigious book – a biography of Picasso written by the artist’s grandson, Olivier Widmaier Picasso – it was natural that they should turn to me.
The result was published in Great Britain in partnership with Tate. For the publisher’s comments, please see the Testimonials page. |
